Basic connections and settings
This chapter explains basic connections and data flow for the UA-101. You
should also refer to the block diagram printed on the front cover as you read
this chapter.
* To prevent malfunction and/or damage to speakers or other equipment, you must
turn down the volume and turn off the power on all your equipment before you
connect anything to the UA-101.
* When connection cables with resistors are used, the volume level of equipment
connected to the inputs (Input jacks) may be low. If this happens, use connection
cables that do not contain resistors, such as those from the Roland PCS series.
Use a USB cable to connect the UA-101 to your computer.
Both MIDI data and audio data are transferred over the USB cable.
When you connect headphones or monitor speakers as shown in the diagram,
you’ll be able to monitor the playback from your software, or the sound of
instruments or audio devices connected to the UA-101.
